The Jaffa Institute (www.jaffainstitute.org) is an Israeli private, non-profit, multi-service social agency assisting severely disadvantaged children and their families. In response to local needs, the Jaffa Institute offers educational and welfare services throughout Jaffa, Holon, Bat Yam, south and east Tel Aviv, Rishon Lezion, and Bet Shemesh with administrative offices located in south Tel Aviv. Our programs help children, teenagers, and their parents acquire the tools necessary to break free from the intergenerational cycle of poverty found in our service area and positively affect Israeli society.

The Jaffa Institute Internship offers prospective applicants the opportunity to learn the foundations of nonprofit fundraising and gain a competitive edge in the nonprofit field all while helping Israel's most impoverished receive vital educational and social services. While he/she will primarily work on researching new potential donor foundations and drafting letters of inquiry, the intern will be immersed in all aspects of the Jaffa Institute's development program, including composing newsletters, updating the Institute's website, and hosting donors on site visits. Full transportation subsidy will be provided.

Interns will:
|
work with the development team to draft proposals and letters of inquiry to foundations
create press releases and newsletters
learn how to develop a foundation fundraising strategy
research foundation prospects, determine a foundation's interests and find a match within the Jaffa Institute's range of programming.
assist in updating the Institute's website.
participate in hosting donors at our various program sites with the Visits Coordinator .
work 15-20 hours/week (schedule is flexible).

Our office is a friendly and welcoming environment located in south Tel Aviv and easily accessible by bus. If you would like to design a project that helps you meet your educational goals, we will happily work with you to achieve this. The Jaffa Institute will gladly will fill out forms to help intern receive funding or academic credit.

Interns should:
|
have an interest in development and fundraising, particularly within a non-profit environment.
be committed to advancing equality through education in low-income neighborhoods.
exhibit outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
have excellent computer skills, including, but not limited to, solid knowledge of Microsoft Office.
possess knowledge of internet and/or library resources for research.
be able to organize and document research for future reporting.
employ strategic and creative thinking as well as the ability to multi-task.
basic knowledge of Hebrew is a plus, but not required.
