Statistics indicate that food insecurity as a way of life befalls one in every five children in Israel, and approximately 32% of the children do not get a nutritious meal on a regular basis. Therefore, hundreds of meals are provided five days a week for children and adolescents at all of the Institute’s activity centers.
When the children arrive at the moadonit, they first eat a warm and nutritious lunch, which is often the only full meal they receive in a day. The menus are put together with the help of a certified dietitian who ensures that the meals eaten are of high nutritional value and provide the children with 35%-40% of the required daily nutrients.
The moadonit staff ensure that other than providing nutritional value, the meals are also appetizing, encouraging the children to eat the whole meal. This contributes significantly to the children’s growth and development.
