| Creating A Summer to Remember! |
Summer is a dangerous time for the children in our care. As the school year ends, most children look forward to a long break filled with fun, games and relaxation. However, as their parents continue to work long hours these children find themselves unattended for most of the day. Wealthier parents can afford to enroll their children into summer camps; however, the parents of the children in our care are hardly in a financial position to do the same.
|
The Jaffa Institute develops summer camp activities at various sites including the Pahad Center in Jaffa, at our activity centers in Bat Yam, Neve Ofer, and Jerusalem, and special summer activities for residential students at Bet Shemesh. Whereas most camps in Israel only operate during the month of July, the Jaffa Institute Summer Camps are one of the only summer camps in Israel that run in both July and August. Field trips, swimming, sports, and educational enrichment all contribute to the rewarding camp experience.
|
The aims of the summer camp are two-fold: to engage disadvantaged children in positive activities that have the potential to enhance their social, academic and personal growth; to furnish an opportunity for the youth to have a voice to express themselves through the arts and sports.
In addition to our two-month program, the Jaffa Institute Camp is unique also in that during the summer months, our Therapeutic Center remains open so that children who receive social and educational support services during the school year are able to continue therapy without a break.
