Recognition Plaque Inside Mobile Laboratory
Ed Satell Science Mobile Program
Launched in 2018, the Jaffa Institute’s Science Mobile Program brings hands-on STEM education directly to underserved communities using specially outfitted mobile laboratories.
Six Science Mobiles currently serve more than 750 children annually, generating nearly 5,000 individual learning experiences each year. Each mobile accommodates 10–12 students at a time, allowing for individualized instruction and close engagement with advanced technologies.
The fleet includes the Maker Mobile, Space Mobile, STEM Kitchen, Chemistry Mobile, Rolling Wave Mobile, and Robotics Mobile, with a seventh mobile focused on anatomy scheduled to launch this year. Each mobile offers a unique scientific theme designed to stimulate curiosity, creativity, and confidence while helping students see the relevance of science in everyday life.
During the war, the Science Mobiles were deployed to hotels housing evacuees, providing educational continuity and social frameworks for displaced children. They were later brought to Gaza envelope and northern border communities. In 2026, two mobiles will remain permanently deployed in Israel’s South—one in Kibbutz Bror Chayil and the other in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council.
An external consultant’s evaluation conducted in 2025 confirmed that participation in the program significantly strengthens students’ motivation to learn and their understanding of science’s relevance to daily life.
Naming Opportunities
The annual operating cost of the Ed Satell Science Mobile program is approximately $500,000.
A gift of $80,000 will be recognized with a dedication plaque inside one of the Jaffa Institute’s Mobile Science Laboratories, helping bring innovative STEM learning opportunities to children who might otherwise lack access to these experiences.
