For them, it's not over yet

While the sirens have quieted, the uncertainty for our survivors remains. During the forty days of conflict, our response was as varied as the survivors themselves: some remained confined to their homes by fear, while others maintained a stoic "what will be, will be" attitude, clinging to their daily routines. To ensure no one fell through the cracks, we at The Jaffa Institute ramped up our outreach, making weekly wellness calls to 400 participants—even those who typically only require monthly check-ins. Working in lockstep with municipal social services, we also successfully coordinated the temporary relocation of survivors without access to shelters to aged care facilities.

Now, many of our survivors are beginning to return to their homes. Beyond the "re-traumatization" triggered by the war, they are navigating a landscape of deep uncertainty, unsure if this ceasefire marks a true end or merely a brief pause. Whether they are sheltering with family or returning to their own apartments, our volunteers continue to stand by them—delivering essential food packages, providing social, emotional and therapeutic support, facilitating home repairs and providing a steady presence in an unpredictable time. Together, we are ensuring that even in the "unknown," they never have to face it alone.
