The Welfare to Wellbeing program provides long-term unemployed women – primarily single mothers – with vocational training, therapy, empowerment workshops, and assistance to find and maintain gainful employment.
In 2015, the Jaffa Institute launched the Jump Start program to assist at-risk youth in our service area, ages 12-17, to successfully transition from elementary school to middle and high school. Ensuring an educational continuum, most of the program participants are graduates of our After-School Educational Enrichment Centers.
In 2012, the Jaffa Institute founded the Harvey S. Gelfand Science Center at Shorashim Elementary School, in an impoverished neighborhood of South Tel Aviv, to expose children to a variety of fascinating scientific topics and provide them with the opportunity to perform hands’ on experiments that encourage their curiosity in these areas.
Introduced in 1987, the English Enrichment program assists children from disadvantaged backgrounds to develop their English reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, which are critical for long-term academic and career success.
Nutrition is a key component of the Jaffa Institute’s programming.
