Jaffa Institute Summer Camp: Where Childhood Returns, One Child at a Time

Dear Friend,
Shalom my friend. It’s been far too long since we were in contact. Despite everything that is happening in Israel and in the Diaspora, time is just flying by. Summer will be upon us in just a little over a month, and we are now in the process of preparing our summer camp programs.
We expect more than 200 additional campers to register for the summer camps this year, leading to record attendance rates. Our Jaffa Summer Camp Program will accommodate 800 children. At $500 per child, the total cost of this program will be $400,000. While a quarter of this cost will be covered by government sources, the remainder must be raised from Israeli donors and from our friends in the Diaspora.
This has been a terrible year for most of the children we serve. Beyond the many challenges they normally face, the ongoing conflict has profoundly impacted them, with many experiencing immense distress, anxiety, depression, PTSD and a pervasive sense of fear, especially those who were directly exposed to violence or displaced from their homes. It is therefore more important than ever that we give these children the gift of a joyful summer where they can find blessed relief from their troubles.
As in previous years, I am asking you to please join us in this effort by taking part in this vital project, as you have so generously done in the past.
We really cannot do it on our own. You have always been extremely gracious whenever I’ve asked for help. I don’t have the words to thank you enough.
